Vilnius regional administrative court ruled that the former commander of the air force Lithuania, Colonel Audronis Navickas was wrongly fired for the decision to repair helicopters in Russia, according to Sputnik Lithuania.

The court partially upheld the complaint of the Colonel against the Ministry of defence, and invalidated the order of the head of Department of Raimundas of Karoblis dismissal from military service.

However, the judge rejected the request of Navickas about returning to his former place, because during the domestic proceedings the commander of the air force have been returned to the post, after which he was transferred to the reserve, and later terminated the contract.

The statement of the court says that Karoblis initiated an investigation cannot be equated with the official verification of the violation. The purpose of this inspection was not an investigation of specific violations, and the definition of circumstances associated with the production of overhaul of two Mi-8T helicopters. Thus, the test is not consistent with the Charter of the armed forces of Lithuania.

The circumstances of the signing of Navickas of contracts for the provision of services on repair of helicopters figured out a temporary inspection under the Ministry of defense.

The inspectors concluded that taking the decision to repair MI-8 in Russia, Navickas may have violated the disciplinary code of the Lithuanian army.

As a result, in February 2017, the Minister of defence of Lithuania Raimundas Karoblis of Navickas removed from office and transferred him to the reserve.

According to the Ministry, the contracts for the repair of MI-8T helicopters was signed in October 2016, then the competition was won by Lithuanian company Helisota. The contract stated that the supplier provides Russian companies the possibility of repair.
