Two Danish zoo take from local residents Pets, which then go to feed the predators. It is reported by the Danish television channel TV2.

We are talking about Copenhagen and Histogram zoos. First gained notoriety after it in the eyes of the children killed giraffe Marius, the carcass of which was later butchered and fed to lions.

Now both zoo is happy to take unwanted small animals such as Guinea pigs and rabbits, which then feed lions, tigers and wolves.

«Well, when the animals have a varied diet, not always the horse or the cow. Plus the fur is fun to chew, and internal organs extremely helpful,» said TV2 employee zoo Anne-Sophie eller.

She noted that food are only those animals that would be natural prey for predators. «Feed them to the cats and dogs would be unethical because it is unnatural for them,» explained eller.

The staff of the zoos also vote for full disclosure and urge parents instead of stories about «rabbit Paradise» to tell children the truth about what will happen to their pet. In some cases, owners have the opportunity to personally observe the moment of death of native animals.

Director Piscuskas zoo Richard Osterballe stressed that they resort to such practices is not to offer people a way to kill their Pets. «We just need animals,» he said. The zoo staff also try to be open in what they do. «When people bring their rabbits, it is in order for them to be killed. We are not trying to hide it from children,» he explained.
