The famous linguist Andrei Anatolyevich Zaliznyak has died on 83-m to year of life. This was reported in the Facebook fellow, Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Sichinava.

Zaliznyak famous for his works on Russian word formation and accentology. When he defended his thesis in 1965, immediately received his doctorate. Since 1997 — academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2007 he became the laureate of the State prize of Russia.

Great contribution a scholar has made to the analysis of the birchbark documents. He first transcribed them. In the course of study was opened in the old Novgorod dialect and the revised historical map of Slavic languages. Also thanks to the research Zaliznyak was completed the debate on the authenticity of the manuscript of «the Word about Igor’s regiment».

«Grammatical dictionary of Russian language», compiled by the scientists manually, became the basis for virtually all computer programs for automated morphological analysis, including information retrieval and machine translation.
