The controlling document for signals from the satellites «GLONASS-M» plan to upgrade in 2018, the radio waves will be less susceptible to changes when passing through different layers of the atmosphere, it follows from articles published in the corporate newspaper of the company-manufacturer of satellites «ISS Reshetnev name» «the Siberian satellite».

«Spacecraft «GLONASS-M», which now form the basis of the orbital constellation, taking into account land reserve in six of the spacecraft will prevail for at least eight years, so in 2018 it is planned to release a new revision of the interface control document for signals with frequency separation in bands L1 and L2 GLONASS – it will identify good models for tropospheric and ionospheric refraction», — writes the edition.

Ionospheric and tropospheric refraction – phenomenon of refraction of radio waves of the satellite signals entering from outer space into the Earth’s atmosphere, distorting the measurement accuracy.

Navigation «information» message transmitted by the satellites – the super-frames have a reserve level, which will now be spelled out model of the ionosphere. The factors influencing the distortion of the radio waves will allow to reduce the influence of ionospheric refraction on 70%, and tropospheric – almost 80%.
