A single list of terrorist organizations required for a successful fight against militants, said the speaker of the lower house of the Russian Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin.

«To effectively combat this global threat to us all it is important to have common terminology, to avoid double interpretation of the actions of criminals, you need to create a list of terrorist organizations»,- said Volodin at the international conference on combating terrorism.

The event was attended by parliamentarians from Afghanistan, Iran, China, Pakistan and Turkey.

Volodin stressed that inter-parliamentary cooperation is necessary to counter the radicalization on the basis of political and social attitudes. According to him, the need for a unified enforcement approaches to liability for aiding and abetting, public incitement, incitement to terrorism or public justification of it. «The most important task of the Parliament — introduction and simultaneous development of relevant national legislation»,- he said.

As noted Volodin, a step in the information war against terrorism could be the adoption in the UN of the concept of «voluntary counter-terrorism restrictions the media and officials». According to him, this concept involves restraint of the media in the information discharge, capable of provoking extremist sentiments in society.

He stressed the need to intensify the work on model legislation, able to provide effective protection of our citizens from terrorist threats.

«It is important to bring our laws and procedures, facilitating thereby the work of law enforcement, fighting organized crime,» — said Volodin.

Special attention was paid to the trade in stolen cultural goods, drugs and people as principal sources of financing of terrorist groups.
