The Soviet leader liked to frighten the West. At the Embassy reception in 1956, Khrushchev said: «whether you Like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you». Although out of context the phrase sounds daunting, the author himself quotes later explained it more widely. Khrushchev noted that «not meant literally digging graves with a shovel, but only the fact that capitalism will destroy its own working class».

He later continued this thought: «we Have capitalism with a single question of land. Who bury?»

The Soviet leader frequently expressed himself colloquial expressions even in high offices. With the creative intelligentsia of the relationship of the first Secretary also did not go well. Khrushchev’s visit to the exhibition of avant-garde artists in Moscow in 1962, remembered for his scathing comments addressed to the authors of the presented papers: «How could you represent the revolution? What is this face? You can’t draw? My grandson and the best draw.» Khrushchev used foul language and threatened to ban the exhibition and the artists promised to expel from the party and the trade Union. Later it turned out that most of the authors neither the party nor the Union of artists was not. Criticizing the work, Khrushchev made another remarkable sentence: «with regard to art — I’m a Stalinist!».

In the exhibition of avant-garde artists was attended by the sculptor Ernst Neizvestny. A monument to his work now stands on the grave of Nikita Khrushchev.
