British MPs urged to publish data on the consequences of Brexit

A group of British parliamentarians appealed to the Chancellor (Finance Minister) of the country Philip Hammond with an open letter in which they were asked to disclose classified the results of a study analysing the possible economic consequences of Brexit.

The UK will leave the EU on 29 March 2019.

«The public has a right to know what the consequences of Brexit for them and for their families. Without having access to the latest research carried out at the expense of taxpayers, the Parliament will not be able to perform the approach of the government and present the facts to our constituents. It is important to shed light on the analytical work of the Treasury,» the letter reads.

That analysis of the economic consequences of Brexit was conducted, the Hammond announced earlier this month at a hearing of the Finance Committee of the house of Commons. He, in particular, said that the government have created models of possible «alternative structures», which will be responsible for relations of the EU and the UK.
