The President of Moldova Igor Dodon discussed with Russian leader Vladimir Putin discussed questions concerning bilateral relations.

The President of Moldova expressed his hope that in 2018, countries would be able to reach a new level of cooperation, without the pressure that accompanied the relations between States in the expiring 2017.

He assumed the position of President of Moldova on 23 December 2016. According to his election program, he intends to restore the strategic partnership with Russia, the return of Moldovan products to the Russian market and to normalize the cooperation in the energy sector. He has repeatedly said that Moldova «is vital to restore relations with Russia.»
