The leader of the center-right party «Forward, Italy» Silvio Berlusconi said that in case of victory in the parliamentary elections of 2018 Italy will not take unilateral steps on the issue of anti-sanctions, but will make every effort to make the EU understand that Russia is not its enemy, and the sanctions inflict damage primarily by Europeans.

«I guess it will be more useful and work correctly to all of Europe understood that Russia is not an enemy but a potential ally, and that sanctions are a tool that primarily does damage to ourselves, our businesses and at the same time separates Russia from Europe, making it more difficult dialogue on contentious issues,» — said the former Prime Minister in an interview on Friday published the Milan newspaper Corriere della Sera.

«A unilateral move on the part of Italy would be traumatic and we will do all that necessary, it was not» — said a prominent politician.

On Thursday, the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella dismissed both chambers of the national Parliament. On the proposal of the government following parliamentary elections in Italy was scheduled for March 4, 2018.
