The government needs to understand why steps to modernize the Russian economy does not give the expected results, the Cabinet should finally start to make decisions that can transform the situation from a dead point, said the speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.

According to her, improving the welfare of Russians can be achieved through modernization of the economy and its renewal, which will lead to an increase in the number of jobs, improvement of business climate and creation of favorable conditions for entrepreneurship.

«The government needs to understand thoroughly why all the steps in this direction undertaken still do not produce the expected results. And come, finally, to the decisions that moved the case from a dead point», — said the speaker of the house.

He assured that the government sees that a considerable part of the citizens life is financially difficult. «Realizing the seriousness of this problem, the government included it in the practical agenda of its activities as a cross-cutting priority», she said in an interview with «Parlamentskaya Gazeta».

In addition, she noted, is preparing a number of regulatory legal acts aimed at strengthening of protection of socially vulnerable layers of population, support of families.

«The budget for 2018 meets the requirements related to the status of Russia as a social state. So, will be indexed pensions, military salaries. Will continue implementation of the may decrees of the President. Raising the minimum wage to 85% of the subsistence minimum will give impetus to the wage increases in different sectors of the budgetary sphere», — said Matvienko.
