The figure of the child Jesus stolen from Nativity scenes set in the main square of Brussels – Grand place, has informed on Saturday of RIA Novosti in the city administration.

«Indeed, the figure of the Christ-child has been kidnapped and the cradle in which he was broken. But now everything is OK: I found the replica, the failure is removed», — said the Agency interlocutor.

According to her, the police are hunting vandals.

A similar incident had already taken place in December 2014, when law enforcement officers «in hot pursuit» was detained three young men who ruined Christmas creche on the Grand place and stole a figurine of Jesus.

Custom set on Christmas eve in a manger with figurines of the virgin, the infant and the herdsmen originated in Western Europe in the middle Ages. Nativity scenes are a kind of sculptural embodiment of the biblical story of the divine infant, whose first bed was a feeding trough for sheep.
