The inhabitant of the Saratov region Sergey Dubovitsky, who escaped from prison and is checked for involvement in the murder of his wife, was convicted three years ago for what, being drunk, stabbed a fellow villager who stood up for the wife of a fugitive, according to the verdict of the court, the text of which has RIA Novosti.

According to the document, Dubovitsky admitted guilt partly, claiming that the instigator of the conflict was the victim. The court sentenced him to five years in a General regime colony.

The convict appealed against the verdict, considering it illegal and unjust because of excessive severity, but the appellate court left it unchanged, the materials on the website of the regional court.

During the punishment the convict was trying to achieve through the court suspended sentence until reaching his younger child 14-summer age, but the court refused to satisfy this petition. Subsequently, the convict was transferred from colony to colony, from whence he escaped.
