Citizens of member States of the Eurasian economic Union from 1 July 2018, may be allowed to work in Russia drivers with national driving licence, the relevant bill being drafted Ministry of internal Affairs of Russia.

The changes will allow all the citizens of the countries of the EEU to operate vehicles on the basis of a foreign driving licenses «in the implementation of business and labour activities related to management of vehicles».

In addition, the draft proposes to resolve a legal problem that is associated with the perpetuity of foreign issued driving licenses. As follows from the explanatory notes to the bill, owners of such cards can evade a medical examination when the replacement card after the expiry of its period of validity.

The document States that a foreign national driver’s license persons permanently residing on the territory of the Russian Federation, will be recognized as invalid upon the expiration of six months from the date of receipt of the document confirming his right to permanent residence on the territory of Russia or the expiration of six months from the date of entry into the country.
