Scientists from National laboratory of Lawrence in Berkeley, USA, was detected in two meteorites water and complex chemical compounds. According to planetary scientists, the finding indicates that falling on the rest of the body could lead to the origin of life on Earth. Their work publishes Phys.org.

The researchers studied the chemical composition of crystals of rock salt inside meteorites that fell to Earth in 1998. X-ray images showed that the crystals are inclusion of saturated salt aqueous solution and organic molecules. Including amino acids, their precursors, hydrocarbons and other compounds that play on the Earth important biological role.

«The blue crystals of salt the size of two millimeters are part of the storehouse of organic compounds and elements essential for life,» says one of the authors of the study Queenie Chan, noting that a similar combination of elements in an extraterrestrial object recorded for the first time in history.

According to the authors of the study, the molecules in crystals of meteorites were synthesized under mysterious conditions about 4.5 billion years ago. Presumably, the birthplace became the dwarf planet Ceres located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Scientists believe that their discovery demonstrates that primitive life could exist elsewhere in the Solar system, and to move between planets in the fragments of asteroids or planetoids.
