The Ministry of labor of the Russian Federation prepared a bill to raise may 1, 2018 the minimum wage (SMIC) to the subsistence minimum, the text of the document posted on the Federal portal of projects of normative legal acts.

Earlier the President of Russia Vladimir Putin said that the minimum wage in Russia will be equal to the subsistence level since may 1, 2018. According to Putin, to raise the minimum wage to the subsistence level is planned from 1 January 2019, but his recent meeting with Chairman of the Federation of independent trade unions of Russia Mikhail Shmakov he suggested that to accelerate the adoption of this decision, moving it to may 1 — labor Day.

«To amend article 1 of the Federal law of June 19, 2000 № 82-FZ «About the minimum wage»… the change about the first part as follows: «Article 1. To set a minimum wage since may 1, 2018 in the amount of 11163 rubles a month», — stated in the draft Federal law.

In the explanatory note to the draft says that the proposed minimum wage is 100% of the subsistence minimum of able-bodied population for the second quarter of 2017.

From 1 January 2018, the minimum wage is 9 thousand 489 rubles or 85% of the subsistence minimum of able-bodied population for the second quarter of 2017.
