The Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin said in an interview with «Russian newspaper» that today the balance of procedural autonomy of investigative bodies and prosecutors ‘ offices is optimal.

«I think the separation of functions of Prosecutor’s supervision and preliminary investigation had a positive impact on the quality of pre-trial proceedings, as well as increased the level of ensuring the rights and legal interests of its members. And given me the statistical data confirm this… that balance of procedural autonomy of investigative bodies and prosecutors ‘offices is optimal for making critical decisions in the exercise of powers in the sphere of criminal proceedings», — he said in an interview to «Rossiyskaya Gazeta».

Earlier some media reported that the presidential administration allegedly consider the draft restructuring of the Investigative Committee and its separation of powers between the Prosecutor General and the interior Ministry. Later this information was refuted in the UK, and the interior Ministry. So, the official representative of SK of the Russian Federation called this information «stuffing», noting that perhaps «someone does not like the efficiency of the office».
