The chances of a direct dialogue between Israel and Palestine in the current environment tend to zero, said at a press conference, Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The Minister recalled that the Russian foreign Ministry has already talked about the dangers and risks posed by the impasse in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, and also commented on the announcement by US President Donald trump on the transfer of the Embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem. According to him, Moscow «understands those emotions» that are now experienced by Palestinians.

«They do for many years, step by step, made unilateral concessions without getting anything in return. And they were ready for direct talks with the Israelis without preconditions, we were ready to take them with this purpose on the territory of the Russian Federation», — said the Minister.

«While such direct contact without preconditions, did not take place. And in the current situation I think the chances of that are slim to none, which is sad,» — said Lavrov.

In early December, the President of the United States Donald trump announced the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and signed a document about the transfer of the us Embassy there from tel Aviv. The decision of the us leader was well received in Israel and aroused a negative reaction from many countries, primarily countries in the Middle East and Palestine.
