Russia respects Ukraine’s borders, which happened after the reunification of the Crimea with Russia. This was stated by foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Earlier the Deputy from «United Russia» Konstantin Zatulin has proposed to denounce the Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between countries, because the document needs to be changed, the provisions on mutual recognition of borders of each other.

Lavrov said that international treaties are important, but are a matter of lawyers.

«We continue to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity in the borders that emerged after the referendum in Crimea after the reunification of the Crimea with the Russian Federation», — the Minister added.

The Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine is the basic document of Russian-Ukrainian relations. The document envisages a strategic partnership between the two countries «on the basis of principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality, territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, peaceful settlement of disputes, non-use of force or threat by force, including economic and other means of pressure».
