The West does not notice the problem of the destruction of Serbian churches in Kosovo, said on Thursday the Ambassador of Serbia in Russia slavenko Terzic during the premiere of the documentary film «Kosovo: the time in civilization», held in MIA «Russia today».

Only from 17-19 March 2004 in Kosovo, Albanian extremists destroyed and burned down 25 Orthodox churches and monasteries, among which the medieval monuments under UNESCO protection. In 1999 in the Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija destructive in more than 140 churches and monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church. We are talking about the greatest cultural disaster in Europe after the Second world war.

«Today we see real drama and our cultural heritage and our people in this historical region of Serbia. Unfortunately, the whole world, especially the Western world, watching this drama, this tragedy with a certain indifference,» — said Terzic.

According to him, for centuries going on ethnic cleansing of the Serbian population of Kosovo.

«The Albanians of Kosovo and Metohija was not historical residents of this area, they came back at the end of the seventeenth century during the last three centuries they constantly, systematically, with the support of the great powers organised the ethnic cleansing of these territories. This is indicated by many historical facts,» — said the Ambassador.

Kosovo Albanian structures in Pristina on 17 February 2008 unilaterally declared independence from Serbia. The self-proclaimed Republic does not recognize Serbia, Syria, Russia, China, Israel, Iran, Spain and a number of other States.
