At least eight policemen were killed and two others injured in an attack by militants of the radical movement «Taliban» in southern Afghanistan, according to the Agency Pajak, citing local police.

According to the Agency, the incident occurred Wednesday night in Helmand province. As Deputy local police chief Gul Khan, on Monday night, the militants attacked the checkpoint located at the East of the province between the towns of Lashkar Gah and Gereshk.

Khan added that the Taliban also suffered casualties in clashes with the security forces, but accurate information on the number of liquidated militants are given.

Responsibility for the attack on the checkpoint took on the Taliban*.
