The first exhibition in the new year at the Theatre Museum in St. Petersburg will be «Rudolf Nureyev. Last visit», it will be the photos of famous photographer Valentin Baranovsky about the latest best dancer Rudolf Nureyev in Leningrad in 1989, the Grand opening of the exhibition will be held on January 26, reported the press service of the Museum.

The exhibition is timed to the 80th anniversary of the birthday of the famous dancer, has added to the Museum. In the anniversary exhibition presents rare photographs. And this is only part of the volume of photographic material that was included in the album «Rudolf Nureyev. Last visit». At the opening of the exhibition Baranowski will present this unique edition.

Nureyev was a famous dancer of the twentieth century. Started the graduate of the Leningrad choreographic school named after Vaganova (now Academy of Russian ballet) on the stage of the Kirov (Mariinsky) theatre, and in a short time became the idol of the Leningrad public.

After Nureyev emigrated abroad, he danced on the most prestigious stages in the world, was Director of the Paris Opera. But he always remembered his school on Rossi street and the Kirov theater — witness his first successes. And the audience did not forget his idol — when, during his last visit to Saint Petersburg, Nureyev performed in the play «La Sylphide», the hall was crowded.

Nureyev visited the ballet school, met with former teachers and colleagues. Every step of the artist, from his meeting to the farewell at the airport Pulkovo, following lens Baranowski. These photos are not only artistic, but historical value, said the press service.

For General public the exhibition «Rudolf Nureyev. The last visit» will be open from 27 January to 11 February, added in the Museum.
