More than 2.1 thousand people will ensure safety of people during Epiphany bathing in the Moscow region, told RIA Novosti the representative of the press service of the main Department of EMERCOM of Russia in Moscow region.

«Security in the Epiphany night will be involved more than 250 pieces of equipment and more than 2 thousand 170 personnel», — said the Agency interlocutor.

According to him, in the municipalities of the Moscow region for Epiphany bathing will be equipped with 237 seats, 68 of which are on open water.

«Due to the unstable temperature conditions in many water bodies of Moscow region has developed the conditions for the exit of people on ice. So swimming in the Epiphany night should be only in specially equipped places where it provides space heating, lighting and lifeguards on duty,» — said the representative office.

According to the MOE, in 2017 Epiphany bathing in Russia took part more than 1.8 million people (in 2016 – nearly 2 million), serious incidents have been recorded. For bathing it was prepared more than 3.9 thousand places where the on duty emergency workers, doctors and police. Safety bathing provided more 42,4 thousand people and almost 14 thousand units. In Moscow, the venue for a ritual Epiphany bathing was attended by more than 255 thousand people.
