Moscow urges to renounce attempts to one-sided orientation of Central Asia, the region needs constructive multi-stakeholder partnership, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at a meeting of the UN security Council.

Open debate on the theme «Building regional partnerships in Afghanistan and Central Asia as a model of the interdependence of security and development» held on Friday in the security Council under the chairmanship of foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov.

«It is not necessary to put the Central Asian countries face a false choice: either to South or North. The region needs constructive environment and partnership with all parties. And, of course, necessary to respect all the commitments of these countries in the framework of the SCO, CSTO, CIS, Eurasian economic Union,» Lavrov said.
