Baku to host meeting on demarcation of the state border of Azerbaijan and Russia

The next meeting on demarcation of the state border of Azerbaijan and Russia will take place after February 20 in Baku, said on Saturday Deputy foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov.

«The meeting on the demarcation of the state border of Azerbaijan and Russia is planned in February, after the number 20 in Baku. Then, a ceremony of installation of signs at the border, on the territory of Gusar district,» said Khalafov told reporters.

The border between Russia and Azerbaijan is established by the agreement signed in Baku on 3 October 2010. It entered into force on the date of exchange of instruments of ratification on 18 July 2011.

The length of the land of the border between Russia and Azerbaijan is 284 km.

Earlier, representatives of the parties said that Russian-Azerbaijani state border remained contentious issues. Agreement on border issues has already been ratified by the parliaments of both countries.

The regulation on the establishment of a joint Russian-Azerbaijani demarcation Commission was signed on 15 may 2013 in Moscow at the first meeting of this body. In accordance with the joint Commission, in particular, organizes the aerial photography, geodetic and cartographic works and supervision of their implementation. In addition, the document defines the border signs and their installation, rules of pronunciation in the languages of the parties of geographical names.
