The number of Venezuelan citizens who have taken refuge in neighbouring Colombia from problems at home, more than 550 thousand people, reported on Friday by Colombian immigration authorities.

This is the data as at 31 December 2017, with growth compared to the middle of last year was 62%, the report of the migration service of the country.

«The situation in Venezuela has not only forced thousands of Colombians to return to Colombia, but is made so that Venezuelans see in our country the alternative to go to other countries for residence or the purchase of goods of first necessity» — leads the channel Globovision statement of the Director of the migration service Columbia Christian Kruger.

The situation in Venezuela have become severe due to shortages, galloping inflation and falling government revenues due to lower oil prices, as well as the mass protests against the policies of President Nicolas Maduro.
