Last year in Latvia has significantly increased the production of alcohol, it has also increased the volume of export of alcohol, according to Sputnik Latvia.

According to the report of the movement of excise goods of Service of state incomes (SGD) Latvia, during the first 11 months of last year the country had exported 162,02 million liters of alcoholic beverages.

This is by 43.5% more than the same period in 2016.

The main part of exported alcohol was sent to Russia — 90,3%, in EU countries it was exported 9.7 percent of the total.

The amount produced in Latvia alcohol during the first 11 months of last year increased compared to the same period 2016 1.7 times and made up 14.53 million liters.

In a recently published report by Eurostat, the Baltic States are the leaders of the EU on alcohol consumption. Topped the rating of Estonia, where 5.6% of consumer expenses of citizens over the past year occurred in alcohol. Followed by Latvia and Lithuania with the figures of 4.8% and 4.2%, respectively.
