Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri on Monday arrived in Russia on an official visit.

As the correspondent of RIA Novosti, the Board with the Argentine leader landed at the capital airport «Vnukovo-2».

The head of Argentina was greeted at the airport by Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov. In addition, was attended by the Ambassador of Russia in Argentina Victor koronelli, and the Ambassador of Argentina in Russia Ricardo Lagorio. The honor guard played the national anthems of both countries.

As previously reported, on Tuesday, the Argentine President is waiting for a working Breakfast with representatives of Russian business, after which he will open the square of the Argentine Republic on Zhitnaya street in Moscow. Then Makri will lay flowers at the tomb of the Unknown soldier near the Kremlin wall and will meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, the press service of the Kremlin reported that at the talks the presidents of Russia and Argentina plan to discuss the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership in political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres between Moscow and Buenos Aires. Also Putin and Makri will exchange opinions on pressing issues on the international agenda.

It is expected that following the meeting of leaders of the two countries will sign a joint statement and made a statement to the media. At the talks the Russian side will take part the Minister of foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert. With the Argentine side, the meeting will be attended by foreign Minister Jorge Fori, Secretary for strategic Affairs Fulvio Pompeo and the Ambassador of Argentina in Russia Ricardo Lagorio.

The presidents of Argentina earlier visited Russia in 1986 (Raul Alfonsin), 1990 and 1998 (Carlos Menem), 2008 and 2015 (Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner). The presidents of the Russian Federation visited Argentina twice. In April 2010, Argentina was visited by the then President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev. Following the visit there was signed a joint statement and several bilateral documents. Putin’s official visit to Argentina on 12 July 2014.
