The Prosecutor’s office in the Turkish cities of Istanbul and Diyarbakir issued warrants for the arrest of 35 people for social media posts promoting activities of the PKK and the Kurdish party «Democratic Union» in connection with the Turkish operation in Syria Afrin, the Agency Anadolu reported, citing a source in law enforcement bodies.

It is noted that the detention of 18 persons sanctioned in Istanbul and 17 in Diyarbakir.

According to the Agency, they «spread propaganda posts and comment on them.»

Earlier the Turkish General staff announced the beginning of «operation Olive branch» against the forces of the Syrian Kurds in the Afrin. The operation began on Saturday at 17.00 GMT. The Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim said Sunday the beginning of the ground operation in ‘ Afrīn.
