Gazprom in January to cut gas transit through Ukraine to Europe by 25% compared with the beginning of the month. This is due to the decline in gas consumption and the use of the Russian company of the bypass route, said the Agency UNIAN Advisor to the Minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine Maxim bielawski.

«If you compare the first and 22 January this year, the volume of transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian GTS (gas transportation system — ed.) fell from 238,7 to 180 million cubic meters per day», — said the adviser.

According to bielawski, due to the fact that «Gazprom» uses gas accumulated in the summer in European warehouses, and also directs the fuel through the pipeline «Nord stream». The reduction of fuel consumption in Europe is due to relatively warm weather, the adviser said.

Earlier «Gazprom» has published the data according to which the company on January 20, reduced the transit of gas through Ukraine to Europe in 1.3 times in comparison with the same period of 2017. Only for this period «Gazprom» has put on this route 4.3 billion cubic meters of gas.

While gas supplies to Europe by other export destinations — the gas pipeline «Nord stream» «Yamal-Europe» — remain at a consistently high level.
