Members of the Public Council under the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation who have seen the film of British Director Armando’s Iannucci «Death of Stalin», I think Comedy is not funny, but vulgar and false, without artistic value, but admit that there’s an audience that Comedy can appeal to.

Iannucci said that watching the film the Russians, including the Russian press, called it funny and truthful.

«If they can not think, can only sympathize. The genre of black Comedy also has its face. For example, our Director or American making a film about the Kennedy assassination, but the humor is mostly extracts from feces of the slain President, his enemies and friends. I think the Americans came to be outraged by this, not because it’s a black Comedy, but because there are things that can not be crossed, otherwise the civilization becomes barbaric cave Horde. In the movie «Death of Stalin» is mostly humor in this. Maybe someone funny, I don’t, I don’t want to laugh,» said the head of the public Council of the writer Yuri Polyakov.

He noted that in the view of the Public Council under the Russian Ministry of culture no Director said that the film has artistic merit, all agreed on the fact that it is very bad from a professional point of view and absolutely false.

A member of the Public Council Pavel Pozhigailo also stressed that «the situation on the discussion of the film was completely democratic, but no one spoke.

«The Minister was asked to give a second opinion, maybe someone liked the movie. No fear was not, but no one did. Of course, valid and satire, and black humor, joke, but joke joke strife. The issue is not the humor, but how this is done, the humor goes. When in the next hour more than a hundred people are murdered in a brutal way, or when Beria prepares a little girl for violence given the dubious humor, the whole thing looks dirty. There is a savoring of the moments that a normal person can not look,» said Pozhigailo.

He stressed that Comedy was supposed to get in the car on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the battle of Stalingrad, and many would have taken it as an insult.

«The film was shown in London, there were a lot of Russians, maybe they liked it because they don’t like much of what is happening in Russia. Yesterday I was interviewed by the correspondent, an Englishman with «al-Jazeera», he told me he didn’t go to see the movie because it dissuaded the parents, who looked, and they really didn’t like it,» — said Pozhigailo.

In Russia, the film has caused a wave of indignation. After watching a number of prominent politicians and cultural figures were asked to revoke the rental license of the picture.

In their letter to the head of the Ministry of culture emphasized that the British «libel on the history of our country», «a»Comedy» denigrating the memory of our citizens that defeated fascism…». Also noted the poor acting, sloppy decorations and insulting attitude towards the flag and the national anthem. In addition, the information can be regarded as extremist and dehumanizing.

According to the authors of the letter, the release of the film on the eve of celebration of the 75th anniversary of the battle of Stalingrad was an insult to all «who died there and… who else was left alive».

The letter in particular, signed by the Chairman of the public Council under the Ministry of culture Yury Polyakov, Elena Drapeko deputies, Leonid Slutsky and Vladimir Bortko, film Director Nikita Mikhalkov and producer Igor Ugolnikov.
