Residents of the capital region the evening of 31 January will be able to see the rare red supermoon if the weather is clear and cloudless, according to a press release of the Moscow planetarium.

Red supermoon — a rare astronomical phenomenon when a total Eclipse of the moon coincides with the supermoon. According to astronomers, in Moscow, red-brown superlon rises above the horizon after 17.00, started to emerge from the shadow of the Earth. Therefore, if not prevent, the clouds, within hours you can still observe how gradually with the disc of the moon disappears reddish color.

«Watching a lunar Eclipse happens only if the clear weather. During the Eclipse, the Moon will be located in the constellation Cancer and passes through the southern part of the Earth shadow. To observe the Eclipse successfully with the naked eye, so in fact, Planetariums special events will not be held», — said the head of the astronomical complex of the Moscow planetarium, Yaroslav Turilov, which quoted the press service.

The next full Eclipse of the moon on 27 July 2018. It will be the longest one in the 21st century coincide with the great opposition of Mars.
