Orthodox culture should be taught at all levels of secondary education, said Wednesday the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill at the opening of the XXVI Christmas educational readings in Moscow.

«I would like to say about the possibility of teaching Orthodox culture in schools, improving the quality of education in Orthodox educational institutions, the development of a network of Orthodox pre-school educational institutions. Orthodox culture should be adequately represented in a grid of hours for all levels of General secondary education», — said the Patriarch.

According to him, representatives of the Church «talked about this many times, meeting with understanding and support in the broad layers of our society.» The head of the Russian Orthodox Church reminded that the task of educating new generations, who know and share traditional moral values, has adopted the Strategy of development of education, approved by the Federal government in 2015.

«It requires special attention and the development of a system of continuous Orthodox education. Today the part of Orthodox educational institutions is facing serious difficulties, which ultimately boil down to logistics, and not least, and sometimes to a greater extent to the lack of attention to their problems with the responsible diocesan structures. You need to constantly monitor the situation and respond to calls for assistance appropriately,» — said the Patriarch.
