French Director Fanny Ardant, who on Friday will present his film «Stalin’s Sofa» in the Moscow cinema «pioneer», anxiously awaiting the reaction of the Russian public at this picture.

The film takes place in the Soviet Union the beginning of the 1950s. Joseph Stalin, played by Gerard Depardieu, arrives in his secret residence, which also features a workshop to create a monument in honor of the «father of Nations». Work on the monument instructed the young sculptor Oleg Danilov. Responsible task immediately turns him into the object of close attention of the KGB.

«I always asked myself the question, what think the Russian public? How a French actress decides to make a film about Stalin?.. I am very interested to know what I will say to the audience after the viewing,» said Ardan at a press conference on Wednesday.

Director Ardan based on the novel by Jean-Daniel Balcassa. According to her, this work gave her full freedom of adaptation, and she’s ready that some may not agree with her vision.

«Stalin is a metaphor. I’ve seen in this figure, the idea of absolute power and the real question of the film — what does man become in the face of absolute power? All the archives are open, you can learn the truth, to treat it differently», — said the Director.
