One of the most popular French museums — the Louvre — until Sunday closes to the public halls, which is the collection of Islamic art because of rising water level in the Seine, said in a communique of the Museum.

«In accordance with the plan of flood protection, the management of the Louvre … decided to close the lower level of the Department of arts of Islam, at least until Sunday», — stated in the message.

The Museum noted that they also «taken measures to protect the Palace», which houses the Musee du Louvre.

On the morning of Wednesday, the water level in the Seine reached the mark of 5.12 meters. Flooding has already caused the suspension of navigation, and led to the closure of some stations of the Paris metro.

In the summer of 2016, the water in the river rose to 6.07 meters. Then for four days the Museum was closed entirely, some of the exhibits were moved to more protected water.
