Work on the expansion of a training course on basics of religious culture and secular ethics continues, said Minister of education and science Olga Vasilieva on Wednesday, the International Christmas educational readings.

In his speech, the Minister reminded about the implementation of complex educational course «basics of religious cultures and secular ethics».

«I want to say that the work on expanding and deepening continues. The working group is active,» — said Vasilyev.

The Russian Orthodox Church has initiated the extension of this course. Today this subject is taught in the 4th grade.

Previously Vasiliev said that the decision to expand the school course «Basics of religious cultures and secular ethics» is, but the final decision will be made after several years of testing.

The course «Basics of religious cultures and secular ethics» (ORKSE), introduced in 2012 across Russia for students of the fourth grade includes the study of the choice of basics of Orthodox, Islamic, Buddhist or Jewish cultures. In addition, the desire to learn the basics of all the world religious cultures or secular ethics. The course ORKSE studied throughout the 4th class rate of one hour per week.
