The Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS) declares that competition in the Russian banking system is deteriorating, clearly seen a tendency to increase the market share of large banks with state ownership, said in an interview with RIA Novosti Deputy head of the FAS Andrey Kashevarov.

«FAS conducts ongoing monitoring of competition, but last year with the prevailing market situation was reviewed in the dynamics over a sufficiently long period — from 2011 to mid-2017,» — said Cook.

«The calculations showed that the state of competition in the banking system is deteriorating and all clearly seen a tendency to increase the market share of large banks with state participation, both at the Federal and especially at the regional level», — said Deputy head of the FAS.

According to him, the figures indicate that competition with these banks by other market participants is extremely difficult, if not not possible.

«Most regional markets (from 48 to 81, depending on the product segment) are highly concentrated, that is they are able, which is characterized by the presence of the dominant player and low level of competition. Markets in the regions where there was a high level of competition, to the present moment there are practically no», — the interlocutor summarized.
