A citizen of Ukraine, the driver of the car, caught in a head-on collision, in which on the island of Phuket in Thailand last Sunday killed two citizens of the Russian Federation, was charged with careless driving resulting in the death of two or more persons, informs on Friday the Internet portal of the Phuket News, citing local police.

The accident occurred on Sunday around 14.00 local time (10.00 MSK). Two of the Russians 67 and 68 years, was driving to the airport of Phuket on the Nissan Almera, at the wheel which was the citizen of Ukraine. At a sharp turn in the district of Cheung Thala the driver lost control and the car flew into the oncoming lane, faced with a van coming in the opposite direction. All participants of the accident were taken to hospital, where both the passenger of the car died from his injuries. A citizen of Ukraine, who was behind the wheel of the car received multiple injuries. The driver of the van, a citizen of Thailand, serious injuries have not received.

Police the online edition stated that the charges brought against only one driver, the report said.

The question about whether there were two dead Russians previously familiar with the driver, a Ukrainian, and why they were in his car, police refused to answer, having referred to secrecy of the investigation, the newspaper reports.
