Saint Tatiana

Saint Tatiana lived in Rome in the II-III centuries, during the persecution of Christians. Her father, a noble Roman, secretly professed faith in Christ and raised a daughter in the Christian spirit. She never married, became a Deaconess, assisting in the social activities of the Church, and devoted himself to the service of God.

In the autobiography of the Saint is told that one day the Gentiles grabbed Tatiana and demanded that she worshipped idols and brought them to the victim. But in the temple of Apollo, where he led a virgin, she prayed to Christ, and earthquake. The idol broke into pieces, and the rubble was buried under him priests.

Then, in an effort to get Tatiana to surrender, the pagans began to torture her. As the story goes, during the torture occurred many miracles: the executioners, the Epiphany of which prayed to a Saint, believed in Christ, the angels took away from Tatiana blows and beat up her tormentors, some of her wounds instead of blood milk flowed, and the air had a sweet scent. When the Martyr was brought to the circus and let loose a hungry lion, the beast began gently licking her legs.

After the terrible torment each time Tatiana stood before their executioners even more beautiful than before. The Gentiles were desperate to break the faith of the Martyr tortured and executed her. Together with Tatiana was executed and her father.

In recent years, Russia has revived the age-old traditions of celebrating the day of St. Tatiana, in their basis — the common prayer of the Russian Church and high school.
