Residents of Biysk took home more than 50 dogs and cats left homeless because of a fire at the animal shelter, told RIA Novosti the volunteer organization «Devotion.»

The fire happened at night on Friday. Killed 25 cats and six dogs, it happened because of the collapse of the building. Many of the animals suffered from exposure to carbon monoxide.

«Concerned residents of Biysk already taken more than 50 dogs and cats. Brought several hundred pounds of feed, a heat gun and money to restore the only animal shelter in Biysk,» said the volunteer.

According to him, to restore the shelter are volunteers and willing to help.

Last night in the Altai region was recorded the lowest temperature in recent time, the thermometer dropped to minus 45 degrees.
