Fifty canadian military instructors arrived in Ukraine as part of operation UNIFIER training Ukrainian troops, said on Friday the canadian Ambassador in Kiev, Roman Vashchuk.

At the International center of peacekeeping and security in Lviv region in the framework of the canadian mission UNIFIER is the preparation of the Ukrainian military. There is regularly visited by canadian instructors to train Ukrainian colleagues.

«Strengthening our canadian presence – an additional 50 soldiers arrived to UNIFIER. Supported by the Ministry of defence in defending the sovereignty, security and stability of Ukraine», — wrote to the canadian Ambassador on his Twitter page.

The head of the canadian military training mission in Ukraine, Christopher Reeves is also on Twitter noted that at the moment it has become the largest, without specifying the exact number of troops from Canada.

Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Canada has decided to extend the mandate of the military training mission UNIFIER in the Ukraine to 2019. According to the President, trained more than 5 thousand servicemen of the armed forces of Ukraine, trained more than 160 snipers and 120 military personnel trained in tactical medicine.

The operation of the UNIFIER, the government and the armed forces of Canada launched in response to the request of the Ukrainian government. This is a training mission that is part of the multinational joint Committee, which includes Ukraine, USA, Canada and UK.
