Budget expenditures of the Russian Federation on the infrastructure for World Expo 2025 in Yekaterinburg will be minimal, a large part will be financed by private investors, said Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich to journalists on the sidelines of the Hackathon 2025 in Technopark «SKOLKOVO».

Russia in may filed a bid to host World Expo 2025 in Yekaterinburg. The event will be held from may 2 to November 2, 2025. In addition to Yekaterinburg to host EXPO 2025 expect Osaka (Japan) and Baku (Azerbaijan). France had previously revoked its application. The decision on the venue of the exhibition will be taken at the General Assembly of the International exhibitions Bureau in November 2018.

The cost of Russia on carrying out in Ekaterinburg World Expo 2025, in case of victory in the competition in November 2018 may be about 100 billion rubles, said earlier on Saturday the head of the bid Committee «EXPO-2025» Svetlana Sagaidak. The territory of the future EXPO 2025 in Yekaterinburg, where it will build Smart City, the city of the future, will amount to 555 hectares.

«From our perspective, Federal spending will be minimal, and they are not associated with the will EXPO or not, because we are talking about the infrastructure that is needed in Ekaterinburg and the surrounding area regardless of whether the EXPO. And the EXPO to the maximum extent should be a project which in the future will pay off in years to come,» — said Dvorkovich.

«So I’m sure that most of the expenditure on construction of buildings and the environment can be financed by private investment. If we decide to build a University, it is clear that we will spend any more money, and the EXPO will be there to hold, to show all new technologies, our ideas, our understanding of the future and thus to show and Russia, to establish new partnerships, new contacts with other countries,» he added.

«Any project, which is now conceived and done, should be ambitious,» — said Dvorkovich. «Osaka is still one of the most expensive cities in the world… We want to make our city (Ekaterinburg — ed.) more accessible, more convenient and intuitive in the tactile level for those who will live there and to visit it… it is Desirable that this occurred in relation to the EXPO to win and showed it to the world. Even if we don’t win, you still do it,» — said the Vice-Premier, adding that the construction will apply technology to a new level.
