First Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Titov and state Secretary of the foreign Ministry of Finland Peter Stenlund during the recent political consultations discussed interstate relations and the situation in Ukraine and in Syria, reported Saturday the Russian foreign Ministry.

«The parties discussed topical questions and prospects of development of Russian-Finnish relations. Confirmed mutual interest in continuation of the regular dialogue, the strengthening of multifaceted practical cooperation between Russia and Finland in the bilateral format and within regional organisations in Northern Europe and the Arctic, including taking into account the Finnish presidency of the Arctic Council in 2017-2019 biennium. were also discussed topical international issues, including the situation in Ukraine, in Syria and on the Korean Peninsula», — stated in the message of the foreign Ministry.

It is also reported that Titov and Stenlund exchanged messages «in connection with the 50th anniversary since the start of the actual activities of the Consulate General of Russia in Turku and the Consulate General of Finland in St.-Petersburg».
