U.S. Consul General in Vladivostok, Michael keys, following the meeting with the government of Alaska said that those are going to develop relations with the Russian Far East, according to the government of Chukotka.

This was the Consul General said in his letter to the Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug Roman Kopin.

«He noted that in late December – early January, met with Alaska Governor, mayors of several cities, as well as representatives of sister city organizations and the business community. The main purpose of these meetings was to discuss potential possibilities for cooperation and give new impetus to relations between the Russian Far East and the American state of Alaska in the sphere of diplomacy, culture, science, education, sports, business, indigenous peoples», — stated in the message.

As noted by Keyes, many participants hope to «resume the development of Russian-American relations in many spheres of life».
