Iraq has agreed with two Chinese companies about construction of a refinery at the oil port of FAO on the South of the country, said the Iraqi oil Ministry on its website.

«The Ministry of oil announced the transfer of the refinery project of the FAO, including a petrochemical complex, two Chinese companies… refinery’s Capacity will reach 300 thousand barrels per day,» reported the website citing the official representative of the Ministry of asema Jihad.

Jihad said that the project aims to develop a petrochemical complex in Iraq to export its products.

He added that the authorities also are preparing to invite companies to invest in several other projects of refineries, including refineries in Western Anbar province with capacity of 150 thousand barrels per day, in the area of Kayar to the South of Mosul with a capacity of 100 thousand barrels per day, as well as in the province of DHI QAR in the South of the country with a capacity of 150 thousand barrels per day.
