An international team of scientists through the year to publish the result of the analysis of data obtained using a unique orbital astrophysical Observatory «Spektr-R» in the framework of the project «Radioastron», which is necessary to verify more accurately the principle of relativity of albert Einstein.

We are talking about the principle of equivalence, linking the effect of gravity on the passage of time in different points of space.

Many physicists believe that the theory of gravitation of Einstein is not completely accurate and that the formula, which must be subject to gravity are slightly different from the Einstein’s formula. These scientists point out that the main drawback of the General theory of relativity is that it does not take into account quantum effects.

Attempts to «prachandapath» gravity and unify it with other fundamental interactions described in the last decade, require adjustment of the General theory of relativity and, as a consequence, she describes the phenomenon of gravitational time dilation. Any deviations that could fix the «Spektr-R» and other probes, can «tell» scientists, where and how to Refine the calculations of Einstein.

Experiments on checking the principle of relativity has already conducted over 40 years ago aboard the us probe Gravity Probe A. This experiment is within the accuracy of the obtained data confirmed the validity of Einstein’s calculations, but that’s not stopping scientists from repeat tests with improved measurement accuracy.

The experiment «Radioastron» is made in a similar scheme with experiment Gravity Probe A. the Difference lies in the fact that the «Spektr-R» flies in orbit around the Earth for many years, and Gravity Probe A was launched just 10 hours. Accordingly, the accuracy of the measurements adds a multiple of the experiments. Moreover, the Russian spacecraft is on a highly elliptical orbit that allows to increase the difference between the maximum and the minimum effect size. Due to this, Russian scientists hope to increase the measurement accuracy ten times.

«All the planned tests have been carried out, published an article with the first results. We can already tell that within a single experiment reached a precision comparable to the Gravity Probe A, the equivalence principle is not violated,» — said RIA Novosti head of the scientific program of the Radioastron project, a member-correspondent of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Kovalev.

«Now the science team is conducting analysis of all collected data in order to try to reach the level of verification of the equivalence principle with an accuracy ten times higher than before. In a year I hope to hear about the results from the scientific group,» — said the scientist.
