The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has declared that hopes for the speedy adoption of amendments to the legislation on raising the minimum wage (SMIC) to a living wage.

«Let me remind you that the decision is already made on may 1 of this year to equalize the minimum wage and the subsistence minimum, which constitute 11163 ruble… I Expect my colleagues in the state Duma will promptly make appropriate amendments to the law», — Putin said at the signing ceremony genioplasty between the government, unions and employers.

The bill, which was published last Friday in the database of the state Duma, proposes to set the minimum wage from may 1, 2018 in the amount of 11 163 thousand rubles a month, bringing it to the subsistence minimum of the working population. As noted in the explanatory note to the draft, the implementation of its provisions will affect three million people, of which 1.6 million are employed in state and municipal institutions.

According to the feasibility study of the project total cost to increase salaries of public sector employees in 2018 will amount to 39.3 billion rubles, including employees of Federal government agencies — 7.5 billion rubles, and employees of state institutions of RF subjects and municipal institutions to 31.8 billion rubles.
