Russia believes that the implementation of the project of the pipeline «Nord stream-2» will not affect the energy security of EU countries, while Moscow against the intention of some countries to derail the project, said Wednesday at a briefing the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki said that Warsaw hopes for U.S. support in the dispute with «Gazprom» on the «Nord stream-2». He also admitted that Poland is trying to use US to influence on «Gazprom».

«I would like to remind once again the Polish side that the gas pipeline «Nord stream-2″ does not undermine the energy security of Europe, and just strengthens her just through the diversification of routes of gas supplies and the leveling of the transit risks, and enhancing reliability of gas supply to end consumers,» — said Zakharov.

She noted that Russia has consistently opposed intentions to derail the «constructive initiative in the field of energy» that serves the interests of European consumers.

The project «Northern stream-2» involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany. The new pipeline is planned to be build next to the «Nord stream».

Against the implementation of the project, a number of countries, in particular Ukraine, which fears to lose the income from the transit of Russian gas, the US has ambitious plans to export to Europe its LNG.
