The Federation Council reappointed Wednesday at the meeting of Valery Zorkin to the post of head of the constitutional court of the Russian Federation for the next six year period.

Candidate Zorkin was submitted to the Federation Council by the President of the Russian Federation.

The appointment of the President, the COP is administered by the Federation Council according to the Constitution.

Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on constitutional legislation Andrei Klishas said on Tuesday that the new powers Zorkin will begin on February 22.

In conclusion, the Committee indicated that the candidate Zorkin meets the requirements of the Constitution to the position of Chairman of the constitutional court.
