Trump ordered the roll program to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, initiated by his predecessor Barack Obama, the US President said in his annual speech «state of the Union» in Congress.

«I just signed the order, requiring the Minister (of defense James) Mattis to review our policy on military detentions and leaving open the prison at Guantanamo Bay,» said trump. «I ask the Congress to ensure that the fight against ISIS* and «al-Qaeda»* we have all the necessary tools for the detention of terrorists, wherever we caught them,» said trump.

«In the past we stupidly released hundreds of dangerous terrorists only to meet them again on the battlefield, including the leader of ISIS in al-Baghdadi,» said trump.

So he turned initiated by his predecessor Barack Obama’s program for the closure created by the United States in 2002 at the military base in Cuba for international terrorists of Guantanamo Bay prison. Its closure was one of the main promises of Obama during his first election campaign in 2008. At the end of December 2016 Obama, despite the refusal of Congress to Fund the closure of the prison in 2017, promised to continue to transfer Guantanamo detainees to other countries until the last day of his presidency.

Trump even before winning the elections, has repeatedly said he would not support the idea of closing the prison, as he believes that the transfer of prisoners from her is a threat to US security. Currently detained in Guantanamo Bay is 41 people.
