The Chairman of the presidential Council on civil society development and human rights (HRC) Mikhail Fedotov has welcomed the decision of the Moscow city court, which had allowed the journalist «the New newspaper» Hudaberdi Nurmatova (alias Ali Feruz) yourself to leave Russia, instead of to expel him to Uzbekistan.

The corresponding decision the court took on Friday. Earlier the Moscow city court upheld the decision to fine the journalist on 5 thousand rubles and deported from Russia to Uzbekistan for work without permission. However, the Supreme court, having considered the appeal of protection of the journalist, ordered the appeal instance of the Moscow city court to reconsider the question and see if you can replace the forced expulsion for controlled exit from Russia.

In «Novaya Gazeta» feared that the Uzbek authorities will pursue Nurmatov. His lawyer Daniel Haimovich said in court that his client is willing to accept in Germany. At the same time, as reported by Haimovich, RIA Novosti, Nurmatov can’t leave Russia until the court will consider another case against him — on work.

«We have achieved this, and, thank God, not only we, but many members of the public sought, and in the end, thank God he has. We can only welcome this decision,» Fedotov told reporters after speczadanie HRC.

According to the source RIA Novosti in law enforcement, Nurmatov is illegal in Russia since 2011, and in 2012 — without identity documents. In «Novaya Gazeta» refused to believe that Nurmatov — radical Islamists. According to the newspaper, Nurmatov was arrested in Russia at the request of the Uzbek authorities, and moved from Uzbekistan «a few years ago due to the fact that local security services tried to recruit him».

The editors of «Novaya Gazeta» earlier appealed to President Vladimir Putin with the request not to expel Nurmatov from the country, noting that the journalist’s relatives live in Russia, he studied in Russia and is fluent in the Russian language. Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin had drawn the attention of immigration authorities on deportation Nurmatov, but, in his words, «the situation is difficult, there are violations that are difficult to close your eyes.»
